SUMMER NEWS 2026

£5,000 raised for our rescues this summer. Some fabulous feedback. And take part in our first-ever supporter survey.

I don't need to tell anyone that animal rescue is increasingly difficult. We are navigating climate change, with devastating impacts, global wars, economic hardship, and political instability, all of which impact the most vulnerable in society, not least animals and their rescuers. Those with the least power are always the hardest hit.

But our supporters have once again shown us they are willing to step up for the most vulnerable. And between May and August, in a variety of ways, you raised an incredible £5,000 for grassroots animal rescue.

Our approach at Angels HQ has always been to honour our rescuers as much as we do the animals in their care. Rescuers are the gateway to the animals, safeguarding and protecting as many as they can from harm. And our job is to support those rescuers with Angel Grants, and empathy, so they can continue caring for the animals – the most vulnerable of all. Importantly, we know our support makes rescuers feel 'seen' and somehow less alone. And you cannot put a price on that.

We hope you enjoy reading how we have been putting our ethos into practice, and how your donations are making such a difference. We are also excited for you to take part in our first-ever supporter survey – and we are grateful to Jigsaw Culture for providing this service free of charge. Finally, we thank you all for being part of this circle of radical care.

At a time when we have been facing significant financial pressure and working hard to clear our outstanding veterinary bill, this grant has arrived when we have needed it most. We have used  the full £500 to make a substantial payment towards our outstanding vet bill. For a small, volunteer-run rescue like ours, £500 is an enormous amount of money. It makes a genuinely significant difference to us and to our ability to continue providing the veterinary care our animals need.

Every animal who comes through our doors deserves access to veterinary care whenever they need it. For us, this means covering everything from investigations, diagnostics, medication and treatment for unwell animals, through to routine preventative care such as vaccinations, health checks and ongoing veterinary monitoring for the many animals in our care. With so many animals depending on us, these costs can quickly add up and place a significant financial strain on a small rescue. Having this support means we can take a meaningful step towards clearing our outstanding veterinary bill, while continuing to provide the essential veterinary care our animals need.

We cannot thank ... everyone at The Sanctuary Angels enough for supporting Misfits Rescue. Your generosity is helping us directly care for animals who have already needed veterinary treatment, and helping us continue the work we do every single day. Thank you for believing in us, supporting our rescue and helping us make a difference. We are incredibly grateful.

Thank you so much ... for your generous grant of £500. Your support comes at one of our ... most challenging times of the year. Every spring brings an influx of sick, injured and orphaned wild animals requiring urgent care, rehabilitation and, where possible, release back into the wild.

This funding will make a real difference, helping us to meet essential veterinary costs and purchase specialist milk formulas and feed for the many orphaned babies currently in our care. As admissions continue to rise, support such as yours enables us to provide the high standard of care that these vulnerable animals need ... Thank you for helping us give so many wild animals a second chance.

Thanks to The Sanctuary Angels £500 Angel Grant, we’re finally able to move forward with completing our small Quarantine Area for the chickens. This space has been a long‑term goal for us, a safe and quiet unit where we can care for birds who need a little extra TLC, whether that’s medication, a special diet, or a short recovery period away from the main flock.

The funds are being used to buy the materials needed to finish securing the structure so our birds can rest, heal, and still see their flockmates, which is so important for their wellbeing. This support means we can give our most vulnerable bird residents the calm, protected space they deserve while they recover. Thank you for helping us make this happen. It truly makes a difference for our little sanctuary.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

There are so many ways to raise funds for The Sanctuary Angels, which means everyone can be part of our work helping animals around the world:

1) Set up a small monthly donation by standing order. Regular monthly donations (by standing order or PayPal) are the backbone of our work, allowing us to plan ahead and let our rescues know when we can help them.

2) Make a one-off (or regular) donation by PayPal.

3) Sign up to easyfundraising and raise money while you shop online – and now in-venue too. Our last pay-out was an amazing £73.29!

4) Raise funds for us when you recycle your old ink cartridges with Recycle4Charity.

5) Browse Super Supporter Sharon's Vinted page. Every penny raised is donated to The Sanctuary Angels.

6) Leaving a legacy makes a big difference to our work. We are so grateful to everyone who chooses to help animals in their memory in this way. Email us to find out more: thesanctuaryangels@yahoo.com

7) And, finally, we are really excited to announce that the brilliant Jigsaw Culture are now proudly sponsoring The Sanctuary Angels. Let us know how you think we're doing using our first-ever Virtual Suggestion Box, which Jigsaw Culture are kindly providing free of charge. Alternatively, you can use the QR code below.

We would like to thank everyone who supports The Sanctuary Angels. Everything you do makes a difference. We cannot do this important work without you, and we appreciate you. Love, Amanda and the team x
