Rifugio Italia KJ2, Kyiv, Ukraine (Emergency Ukraine Appeal)

As part of their Emergency Appeal for Ukrainian Animals, THE SANCTUARY ANGELS sent a £300 Angel grant to Andrea Cisternino, who runs the animal sanctuary Rifugio Italia KJ2 in Kyiv, Ukraine. He decided to stay instead of leaving his 400 animals alone in this war. Andrea says he would rather die than abandon his animals. Together with his wife, Vlada, Andrea established the International Animal Protection League charity fund in 2013, and in the following year they built their shelter for homeless animals. In 2015 unknown people set fire to the animal sanctuary, which at the time housed mainly dogs and cats, and many of them burnt to death. But Andrea rebuilt the sanctuary, which now also houses chickens, ducks, cows, horses, sheep, goats and other animals. We thank you everyone who has donated to our Emergency Appeal for Ukraine.
